During the time students are at North Shore Elementary School, they will build the foundation for future learning. They will learn to read, tell and write stories, use numbers to solve problems, and learn about the world around them. They will learn to sing songs and play rhythm instruments, complete science experiments, work cooperatively with other children and adults. They will use critical thinking skills to solve problems, listen to literature to promote a love of reading, use "hands on" materials to help understand math and science concepts, develop a deeper understanding of how technology fits in our world today, and develop athletic skills for proper physical conditioning. This learning happens in all grades, K-6.
We encourage parents to become involved in their child's program at North Shore School. We have opportunities for parents to volunteer in classrooms, help with school activities, or participate in the School Site Council (SSC) and Eagle Boosters. The SSC and Eagle Boosters provide opportunities for parents and teachers to work together to continually improve our education program at North Shore.
There are some things that a parent can do to guarantee the success of children in school:
** They should talk to their children every day about what they are doing in school.
**Have their children teach them one thing they learned each day.
**Have books available in their homes, read with their children every night, and let the children see the parents reading also.
**Stress the importance of homework and set aside a place and time for their children to complete it.
**Maintain communication with teachers through parent conferences, notes, progress reports, and phone calls as needed to provide information or to clarify an issue.
**Our office is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily.**
